Kubin-Nicholson Acquires Additional Digital Press Capabilities

November 1 , 2003 -- Kubin-Nicholson has purchased a new, advanced digital press. The added digital printing capabilities will increase Kubin-Nicholson’s ability to produce outdoor billboards and additional point-of-sale, fleet, and transit graphics. The new machine, the ISI Jet 2870 grand-format printer, is made by Innovative Solutions Inc.

The print resolution of the ISI Jet 2870 is 360 dpi and it prints a maximum width of 110". It is capable of running paper, flexible vinyl, self-adhesive vinyl, and a variety of fabrics.

Kubin-Nicholson has been in the printing business for over seventy-five years and is a member of the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) and the Printing Industry (PIA). Kubin-Nicholson has 172 employees, with two plants and corporate offices in Milwaukee, offices in Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Dallas, and Los Angeles.

About the ISIJet 2870

With 72 piezoelectric inkjet print heads, the ISIJet 2870 is a superwide solvent-based inkjet printer with a top speed of 1,400 square feet (130 square meters) per hour. It accepts single or dual roll media, with a print width of up to 113 inches (2.87 meters), and can accommodate media rolls up to 10 inches (25.4 cm) in diameter. Resolution on the ISIJet 2870 is 360 dpi (h) x 180 dpi (v). It uses four colors (CMYK) of solvent-based inks for printing directly to vinyl or paper substrates for outdoor-durable applications. The ISIJet 2870 is ideal for billboards, large banners, fleet graphics and high volume production work. The optional Wasatch SoftRIP® is available to drive the ISIJet 2870.
